Computer graphics, digital imaging, digital photography and video production are often utilized in building effective web pages. Creativity, oral and written communication skills and problem-solving ability are essential in all careers. This pathway inlcuding interior design, floral design, music technology, visual and multi-media design, theater technology, television and video production.

Several dot.com companies are based in Orange County. With Internet use on the rise new opprtunities in retailing, market research, sales consulting and advertising arise. Online retailers have made a strong recovery as shoppers' concerns about terrorism have kept them home rather than in malls. Computer literacy and Web research are becoming basic skills for all employees. Software application skills inlcuding multimedia presentation, graphics, desktop publishing and spreadsheets are often required of employees at all levels. With the dominance of small business in the country, multitasking and entrepreneurial skills are essential.

Health Science

Health care seems to be one of the industries immune to economic downturn. New technology and the increasing population of senior citizens continue to create job opportunities in the health care field. Technology is shifting many health care procedures from acute care hospitals to specialty facilities or to the home. Due to new scientific discoveries and changing technology, most health care careers require additional education every few years to update a license or certificate. Computer literacy is now essential. Entry positions are stepping stones to higher paying jobs. With the increase in pet ownership, the outlook for employment in animal health care is strong.
